Annually in August, it is the biggest event of the summer season. From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Come and join us for the Galiano Wine Festival – just for the health of it! It’s our 25th Anniversary of a fun event for a worthwhile cause – to raise funds for our Galiano Island Health Care Centre. The event is a pleasant 20 minute walk from the Inn, the ferry and the Village, to the Community Lions Park. Informal and joyful, the wine and beer festival is an open-air event that is a wonderful way to spend a summer afternoon. And at $45 a ticket, it is great value: unlimited tasting, a crested Riedel crystal wine glass, fresh-made finger food, and entertainment. There’s room to move around, no long waits for the wines and beers/ales you want to taste, plenty of time to talk with the wine merchants, wine makers and beer makers.
From September through June, you can travel on Monday through Thursday only, in our "Secret Season" on the Gulf Island Water Taxi. During the school year, our water taxi, the appropriately named "S.S. Scholarship", becomes a school boat, taking children from Galiano to Salt Spring Island. You can join, leaving at 7:20 am, from the dock near the Inn, spend the day on Salt Spring Island, and returning home to Galiano "after school" (as space available).

190 different artists + 231 works of art + 1 Mystery = 1 spectacular Kunamokst Mural! The Mural is an incredible, massive mosaic of work designed and orchestrated by Mural Mosaic that was a mystery to the artists until it was unveiled. Join us to view the original at the Galiano Oceanfront Inn & Spa and celebrate the Gulf Islands artists of the Mural, displaying their art.
"Shop Small, Shop Local" Campaign on Galiano
"Think Local" in your community... and in ours when you come to visit Galiano Island.
The Galiano Island Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a great theme of "Shop Small, Shop Local, Dine Local, Enjoy Local" to encourage all of us to enjoy a "flavour of the islands" and help our Communities thrive too.
We have a new Logo, too: it is pretty eye-catching: Look for the very cool signage in the shops
Coming in 2018 ....
"THE" major event of our Winter Season... Widely regarded as one of Canada's best bookstores, with recognition from the Libris Awards in Ottawa to show for it, Galiano Island Books sponsors this amazing Literary Festival...and The Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa is proud to be the venue for the Festival! It draws authors and lovers of books to our island every February. You will have the rare opportunity to meet with the authors "up close and personal", in workshops and readings that are held in rooms with beautiful ocean and garden views: you will be inspired! THE INN IS ALWAYS SOLD OUT - "Book" early!
Music: The Galiano Concert Series
For the price of the ticket alone in the city, you can enjoy dinner at the Inn, and a concert on Galiano Island. Our season on Galiano each year showcases a wide range of musical talent, from Classical to Jazz.
Book a Brunch
Planned for Fall 2018: you will so be able to "Book" a Brunch: hearing new writers reading from their work. Our very first successful brunch was a new foodie guide to the Gulf Islands when "Seasonings" launched at the Inn featuring Chef Dean's Spring menu. Authors Andrea and David Spalding have created a visual feast of Gulf Island photographs that complement their stories: you can buy a book at Galiano Island Books next door to the Inn.

Annual Food Celebrations
You might want to "bookmark" these events for next year:
For a taste of the islands, come to Galiano Island for these food-friendly weekends:
Wondering What to do with Stinging Nettles? Why, eat them of course! Whether it is Nettle tea at the Sturdies Bay Bakery, or something that the Chef at the Inn will have up his sleeve (ouch!). March each year.
Curious about Mushrooms? An Annual, traditional island-style, friendly event. In November, enjoy the "fruits of the forest" with lunch and educational "tour" of mushrooms at the community hall. Later? Delicious dining at the Inn.
Blackberry Festival: our personal favourite festival. Blackberry Signature martinis at the Inn anyone? Fresh blackberry waffles perhaps? Every October, on Thanksgiving Saturday, we have a local blackberry festival. Come for lunch and blackberry pie at the Blackberry Tea. Join us for a delicious weekend.
